Billie Lourd has shared a throwback snap of her as a young child with her mum Carrie Fisher as she reflected on grief and marked the fifth anniversary of her mother’s death.

Star Wars icon Fisher died on December 27, 2016 aged 60 after suffering a cardiac arrest on a flight to LA from London a few days prior, where she had been finishing the European leg of her book tour for The Princess Diarist.

Her actress daughter, 29, shared an undated snap of the pair of them in a photo with a third person holding a koala bear, as Fisher beamed and pointed at the camera for her toddler Billie.

Penning a thoughtful message on grieving, Billie began: ‘People always ask me what stage of grief I’m in. And my answer is never simple. I’m in a different stage of grief in each moment of every day.’

‘My grief is a multi course meal with many complicated ingredients. An amuse bouche of bargaining followed by an anger appetizer with a side of depression, acceptance for the entree and of course a little denial for dessert,’ she added.

‘And that’s how grief should be – all things all at once – actually there is no “should” in grief – grief just is whatever it is for you and that is how it “should be”.’

Pre-empting any questions on her appearing to post her tribute to Fisher a day earlier than the anniversary of her death, the American Horror Story star revealed that she was currently in Australia, where it was already December 17.

‘Ps for anyone wondering why I’m posting this on the 26th it’s the 27th here down unda (aka Tomorrowland) so what better thing to post for my Momby’s Australian death anniversary (4 words I never thought I’d be putting next to each other?!?) than this picture of her and I with a koala!?’ she wrote.

Billie, who is the only child of Fisher and talent agent Bryan Lourd, then signed off her message with ‘sending my love to anyone out there who needs it’ along with a slew of emojis, which included hearts and spelled out ‘I miss you Momby’, her name for Fisher.

The performer, who appeared alongside her late mother in the Star Wars sequel trilogy as Lieutenant Connix, as well as a body double for a young version of Princess Leia Organa in the third film, also shared snippets of her day on her Stories as she thought about Fisher.

Showing a visit to Wet’n’Wild theme park with her fiancé Austen Rydell, she wrote: ‘My momby loved a good water park. Best way to spend her day today.’

She also shared a look at her cooking risotto, one of her mother’s favourites, as well as her favourite ice cream flavour and listening to a Macy Gray tack, which Billie revealed was her ‘first concert with Momby in NYC when I was 8’.

The Scream Queens actress suffered a double bereavement in 2016, when her grandmother Debbie Reynolds, suffered a stroke on December 28 while planning her daughter’s burial arrangements.

She was admitted to hospital and died later that afternoon aged 84, just one day after Fisher.
