A married New York City police lieutenant was reportedly reassigned after he had been filmed receiving a steamy lap dance from one of his underlings during a work holiday party.
The scandalous video shows the female rookie officer wearing a checkered black-and-white miniskirt, black tank top and black knee-high boots dancing on top of 44th Precinct Lieutenant Nick McGarry in a bar, the New York Post reported.
In another video, the rookie cop turns around to face McGarry, who grabs her by the waist, not seeming to mind the inappropriate dance. She then holds onto the lieutenant’s head while continuing to dance on his lap.
The NYPD promptly launched an investigation into Thursday’s incident involving the married officer, who has been with the department since 2010.
After raunchy video from Thursday’s $75 per-person party surfaced, McGarry was reportedly reassigned to Transit District 12 in the Bronx.
The lieutenant reportedly ‘knows he f***ed up’, an unnamed source told the Post.
‘Messing with your subordinate is a no-no on the job,’ the source said of the lieutenant, who lives with his wife and children in the city’s northern suburbs,’ he said.
‘(The rookie cop) doesn’t know any better because she just came on the job. I can’t even tell you how many times they tell incoming supervisors that.’
He noted ‘it sets a bad precedent’.
It is unclear who the female officer is or if she will be disciplined.
The event took place at Rory Dolans, a bar in Yonkers, about a half hour north of Manhattan.
One onlooker, meanwhile, yelled ‘Oh my God’, and another appeared to hand the lieutenant a wad of cash.
Following the dance, the lieutenant stood up and gave his female underling a hug.
In a different video taken during the party, the same female rookie grinds on a different person, who is bent over and facing the floor.
McGarry made $188,000 last year, according to to 50-a.org, a website that compiles public records to make profiles of individual officers. He has also been named in multiple lawsuits, resulting in settlements totaling at least $130,000, though his direct role in the allegations is unclear.
The NYPD found that the the complaints were ‘unsubstantiated’.
McGarry apparently worked in the nearby 42nd precinct in 2017, when he was admitted to the Sergeant’s Benevolent Association, before moving to the 44th precinct, which covers about two miles of southwest Bronx including Grand Concourse, Bronx Terminal Market and Yankee Stadium.
The cringe-worthy incident occurred just days before Keechant Sewell takes over as the NYPD’s first female top cop. She will inherit a murder rate that is 50% higher than it was before the pandemic while shootings that have doubled since 2019, according to the most recent crime statistics released by the NYPD.
Sewell is set to become the first black woman to hold the post after being tapped for the position by Mayor-elect Eric Adams on Wednesday.
