Beyonce’s Renaissance world tour has come under fire for selling £122 (over $200 CAD) “listening only” tickets to her U.S. shows that offer no view of the stage.
The tickets are for seats located behind the stage and give concertgoers no opportunity to see the Crazy In Love singer.
The Renaissance world tour is Beyonce’s first solo tour since 2016.
The star is well-known for her elaborate stage shows, props, and dazzling costumes, but fans have reacted angrily to the “ridiculous” tickets.
“The whole point of going to the concert is seeing her in person and watching the spectacle of the production,” one annoyed fan told The Sun.
“It’s ridiculous,” they said. “If I only wanted to hear the concert, I’d stand outside in the car park.”
Tickets with a limited view, occasionally used by those who are blind or have visual impairments, are usually sold at a discounted price.
Last month, the artist was blamed for keeping inflation stubbornly high in Sweden after more than 40,000 fans flocked to Stockholm to watch the singer begin her world tour.
The former Destiny Child’s star opened her first solo tour in seven years with a three-hour marathon in Stockholm.
Economists said the artist, who launched her tour in the Swedish capital with two sold-out concerts, helped to drive a surge in hotel and accommodation costs.
Forbes estimated that the singer’s Renaissance world tour could earn her up to £1.7 billion through a combination of ticket and merchandise sales, estimates Forbes.
The 41-year-old’s current net worth of £420 million is only part of the estimated £1.44 billion in combined wealth held by the singer and her rapper husband Jay-Z.
In May, the couple bought the most expensive mega-mansion in California for £161 million.
