Plenty of people have been hitting out at Boris Johnson over the Number 10 Christmas party scandal recently, and now Paddy McGuinness has slammed the Prime Minister too – only, not for the reason you might expect.
The presenter has criticised Mr Johnson after he announced an 8pm conference, which clashes with Top Gear on Sunday night.
Taking to Twitter, Paddy voiced his frustrations by writing: ‘Since Boris Johnson became PM we’ve put up with cronyism, lies, incompetency, Brexit bluffs and all round s***housery.
‘Now though he’s finally jumped the shark! Man’s scheduled a press conference for 8pm tonight with no regard to Top Gear starting! #bojogottogo #topgear.’
We feel your pain, Paddy.
It comes after it was announced that the Prime Minister will address the nation at 8pm tonight in a recorded statement to provide an update on booster vaccines, Downing Street said.
The UK Covid Alert Level has been raised to Level 4, meaning the epidemic is in ‘general circulation’ with transmission levels high or rising exponentially.
The statement will have already been filmed, so there will be no questions from media afterwards. It means the PM will not be asked about suggestions he broke coronavirus rules by hosting a virtual Downing Street staff Christmas quiz last December that some joined in person.
In a joint statement tonight, government experts said the emergence of the Omicron variant ‘adds additional and rapidly increasing risk to the public and healthcare services’.
Meanwhile, fans recently took to social media to applaud Paddy McGuinness and his wife Christine after their ‘wonderfully honest and emotional’ documentary Our Family and Autism aired.
Viewers couldn’t praise the parents enough as they shared a look at their lives as parents to three autistic children: eight-year-old twins Leo and Penelope, and five-year-old Felicity.
Top Gear airs on Sundays at 8pm on Sundays on BBC One.
