Arsenal are set to be without Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for Saturday’s clash with Southampton.

The Gunners captain missed the club’s final training session at London Coney on Friday.

Goal report there is no official reason for his absence as of yet but there are suggestions the striker could be unwell with the club exercising caution with Covid-19 cases causing problems across the Premier League once again.

Aubameyang was expected to return to the side and lead the line against Saints after being left on the bench on Monday, brought on late into the game as the north London side fell to a 2-1 defeat against Everton.

Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has suggested something is ‘not right’ between Aubameyang and Mikel Arteta, with the striker replaced as his side chased the game against Manchester United last week.

The Arsenal boss has dismissed those claims, however.

‘I have a very good relationship with my players,’ Arteta said.

‘Everyone has to understand that I always do the best for this club and for this team. And often if that can benefit any individuals, I will always do it.

‘The decisions are not personal, the decisions are just to get performance, and the best out of the team. That’s it.’

Aubameyang has scored four times in the league this season with his last goal coming back in October against Aston Villa.
