A person was arrested Tuesday evening for vandalizing the Washington Monument, police stated.
US Park Police arrested Shaun Ray Deaton round 7.30pm for allegedly dumping a bucket of purple paint and writing a message on the base of the enduring pillar on the Nationwide Mall.
Deaton, 44, was charged with trespassing, tampering, and vandalism. He's from Bloomington, Indiana.
The incident continues to be underneath investigation and will end in extra expenses towards Deaton, police stated.
