Passengers on the American Airways flight to Barbados on Wednesday smelled a ‘chemical’ odor coming from a passenger’s carry-on bag, the airline mentioned.

Passengers have been evacuated on to the tarmac by firefighters from Miami-Dade Fireplace and Rescue (MDFR), who decided the occasion a ‘multi-casualty incident and dangerous scenario’.

The flight from Miami-Dade airport was carrying 173 passengers and crew members.

After firefighters deplaned the plane, a HazMat unit looked for the supply of the chemical odor.
