Boy, 11, dies after being hit by a bus while cycling

An 11-year-old boy has died after he was hit by a bus whereas biking in Bolton.

The tragedy occurred on Vernon Road on the outskirts of the city centre at round 1.40pm on Friday.

Police mentioned they have been referred to as to ‘reviews of a street site visitors collision between a bicycle owner and a bus’.

The teenager was declared useless on the scene.

Larger Manchester Police mentioned in an announcement: ‘No arrests have been made presently and the driving force of the bus is aiding officers with their enquiries.’

A cordon was put in place on the roundabout junction with Prince Road and Merehall Drive, with the roads closed instantly afterwards as emergency companies handled the aftermath and carried out enquiries.

A motorbike could possibly be seen laying on its aspect contained in the cordon while officers may be seen wanting beneath the bus.

The cordon and street closures stay in place tonight with officers’ enquiries persevering with.

The bus concerned is alleged to be a 501 service heading to Farnworth.

Officers at the moment are interesting to any witnesses – notably passengers who have been on the bus in query – to please make contact with them.
