Huge fire sends smoke billowing over Hull after ‘explosion’ at plastics factory

Residents in the Hull town Hessle are being advised to close all windows and doors following reports of explosions.

Videos shared on social media show thick black smoke billowing into the sky, with local residents currently without power.

Gemma Nesvik, 24, from Hessle, told Metro.co.uk: ‘I heard two massive explosions and the power went out and came back on.

‘More explosions went off and then [I saw] black smoke. We totally lost power.’

She added that she walked to the scene and Thompsons Plastics, a plastics factory in the town, was on fire.
