Barcelona are considering a loan move for Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, according to reports.
Aubameyang’s future with the Gunners is now in doubt after he was stripped of the captaincy last week following a disciplinary breach.
The 32-year-old has been training away from the first team and was not included in the squad for the 4-1 win over Leeds United last Saturday.
According to MailOnline, Barcelona are now weighing up a loan deal for Aubameyang and are keeping tabs on the striker’s situation at Arsenal.
However, Barca would need to negotiate with Arsenal over Aubameyang’s £350,000-a-week salary due to their difficult financial situation.
The Spanish club are in the market for a new striker following Sergio Aguero’s decision to retire.
When asked if the club will consider selling Aubameyang, Arteta said last week: ‘All I can say right now is that we have made this decision that, unfortunately, is a really tough one.
‘Obviously, if I had to choose I wouldn’t like to be sitting here and talking about this, but but we had to do it.’
Asked if Arsenal’s dressing room had accepted the decision, Arteta said: ‘Well, they accepted the decision. And I think they they know, because they have committed to it.
‘They have demanded that we want to take our culture, our demands, and who do we want to be as a club and how we want to represent his football club to a different level. And when those standards are not met, you know, then you cannot participate in in our daily basics.’
Barca, meanwhile, have also explored the possibility of signing Manchester United striker Edinson Cavani, whose contract expires at the end of the season.
