An unsuspecting couple were shocked to learn that the photographer who took a cute snap of them on a date to the cinema was actually the absolute icon, Cher.
How did they find out? When Cher uploaded their photograph to Twitter.
Casual enough.
The Believe singer took to social media on Tuesday where she shared a photo of a ridiculously photogenic couple, looking glamorous in all-black, with the woman holding a bunch of flowers.
Along with the photograph, Cher explained that when she was coming out of the cinema at the end of a movie when she saw the ‘beautiful couple’.
‘He was taking Her pic…. She had flowers,’ she recalled to her Twitter followers.
The musician and actor, 75, asked the couple if she could take their photograph, but she ‘had [her] mask on so they didn’t Know Who [she] was’.
‘MAYBE just a crazy woman,’ she joked, before adding: ‘THAT ME [sic].’
The tweet immediately went viral, with fans of the singer joking about how the couple would react if they ever found out who their mystery photographer was.
Well, they didn’t have to wait for long as, just over an hour later, a woman called Syndie commented under the post declaring: ‘Omg! That’s me, and it was my birthday!
‘Wow! I can’t believe it!’
One fan asked how Syndie and her date hadn’t recognised Cher’s voice, with Syndie explaining Cher was wearing a mask, ‘and when she asked to take our photo she was far away from us’.
While Syndie answered in good faith, others mocked the question, with one writing: ‘She was like hey can i take your pic btw do you believe in life after love?’
Another joked: ‘She didn’t go hooooohooo curn ahe take yur pictuure whoahhhh?’
Syndie explained further that, while she and her date didn’t know it was Cher at the time because ‘it was dark and she was fully covered’, they could not stop thinking that ‘this wasn’t an average person’.
Too right!
One fan joked that Cher should perform at the couple’s wedding – a suggestion that was retweeted by Syndie herself – but we’ll have to wait and see if that happens. (Maybe Cher can work as the wedding photographer for the day?)
Easily one of the most iconic performers of the 20th – and 21st – century, Cher’s career has seen her clinch multiple number one hits, sell millions of records and star in major box-office films, including Black Swan and the brilliant Mamma Mia 2.
Most recently, Cher appeared in the annual Pirelli 2022 calendar, oozing glamour in a black-and-white suit.
