Dan Walker was nearly forced to quit Strictly Come Dancing before the series even began, and now he’s released the CCTV footage of his injury which almost prevented him from competing.

The presenter after accidentally running straight into a glass door, leading his professional partner Nadiya Bychkova to stay with him at A&E when he went to hospital.

As the footage shows, he wasn’t joking.

The clip posted on Instagram sees him jog straight into a glass wall after leaving his wallet in a taxi.

‘I’ve got some amazing memories from #Strictly but I’ll never forget that it nearly ended before it even began!’ he captioned the clip.

‘This was the incident which led [to] a brain scan back in September! Staff at the hotel and A&E were great & I was ok to return to training after a 3 day break.

The host went on to say: ‘I’d left my wallet in the taxi but completely ignored the massive glass panel in the way while I was running outside before the car drove off.

‘There was an immediate cartoon bump and blood where my teeth burst my lips but thankfully it wasn’t as serious as it looked.’

He added: ‘I had the scan and was told to rest. @nadiyabychkova was lovely & came with me to A&E but had to hide in the car park for hours because we hadn’t been announced on the launch show at this point.

‘Feels like a lifetime ago. Thank you NHS. P.S. I got the wallet back.’

We’re just glad Dan made a full recovery after the nasty injury.

Meanwhile, Rose Ayling-Ellis provided one of the most moving TV moments of the year with her Strictly Come Dancing win, and she’s also inspiring more people to apply to learn sign language.

The spectacular final saw Rose and Giovanni face off against John Whaite and Johannes Radebe, and the EastEnders star has made a huge impact during her time on the programme.
