The mum of four boys killed in a house fire has said she will ‘never get over’ their deaths.
Deveca Rose, 27, has spoken out for the first time since her children, two sets of twins aged three and four, died in Sutton, south London, on Thursday evening.
Firefighters pulled Kyson and Bryson Hoath, 4, and their brothers Leyton and Logan, 3, from the fire but they all died soon afterwards in hospital.
Deveca, an NHS carer, told The Times: ‘Bryson, Kyson, Logan and Leyton were my boys, they were my babies, they were my life, they were my world.
‘They were my heart; they were my soul, they were everything. Everything feels so surreal. I can’t function.’
The Met Police and London Fire Brigade are investigating the cause of the blaze which was brought under control at 8.36pm.
London Fire Commissioner Andy Roe said the boys’ deaths had ‘left everyone numb with profound sadness’.
A woman, 27, was arrested on suspicion of child neglect on Thursday night and was bailed over the weekend to return to a London police station in January.
Deveca said her boys ‘loved to dance and sing and make silly videos’ as well as climbing, trips to the park and baking with their great-grandparents.
‘They lit up everybody’s world and I will always be sorry that they went so soon,’ she said.
‘They had so much planned and now they’re gone. I wake up and I look at their Christmas tree and I look at their clothes, their Liverpool [football] kit, their Cocomelon dressing gowns, their drawings.
‘I’m so grateful for everyone who was a part of their life who [has] been sharing memories and keeping me together. I don’t wanna be here anymore.
‘They will never be here again and I will live with that for the rest of my life.’
She was speaking as members of the local community left flowers and teddy bears at the site of the fatal fire.
Among those paying tribute to the four children over the weekend were their grandfather, Jason Hoath.
He wrote on Facebook: ‘I am devastated to say that the horrendous house fire that took place in Sutton last night leading to four children loosing (sic) their life’s (sic) were my amazing smart and beautiful grandsons.
‘(They were) taken too soon they will always be in our hearts and thoughts. Boys I love you forever. Grandad xxx’
AFC Wimbledon, where Mr Hoath works as a deputy safety officer, sent its deepest sympathies.
