Rapper Fetty Wap was arrested on warrant at Newark airport on Friday, after police allegedly got an alert about his ankle monitor.
According to TMZ, law enforcement sources said that the rapper was at the airport when police reportedly received a notification regarding his ankle monitor.
Once officers spoke to the artist – real name William Junior Maxwell II – and ran his information, they discovered there was a warrant out for his arrest.
The publication reported that full details of the outstanding warrant were not available, but it related to a public nuisance charge in North Bergen, New Jersey.
It’s reported that Maxwell was arrested and booked for the warrant, but is likely to be able to make bail and get released.
The 30-year-old was pictured in handcuffs outside the airport, accompanied by two police officers.
Maxwell was recently released on a $500,000 (£370,425) bond after being arrested by the FBI on October 28, hours before he was due to perform at Rolling Loud New York.
The US Attorney’s Office revealed the rapper and five other individuals were charged with ‘conspiring to distribute and possess controlled substances’.
Maxwell – best known for his song Trap Queen – was described by police as a ‘kilogram-level redistributor for the trafficking organisation’ after a press release said authorities seized drugs, cash and firearms while carrying out a search warrant.
They seized 16 kilograms of cocaine and two kilograms of heroin, fentanyl pills, five guns, and around $1.5million (£1.1million) in cash as part of their investigation.
At least five kilograms of cocaine are said to have been attributed to Maxwell and his alleged co-conspirator, Anthony Cyntje.
The multimillion-dollar drug ring allegedly trafficked at least 100 kilograms of drugs from the West Coast before selling them in New Jersey and Long Island.
Maxwell was in prison for a week prior to US District Judge Joanna Seybert releasing him on a secured bond earlier this week.
While out on bond, the artist must be monitored by GPS and will undergo random drug tests.
He has surrendered his passport at the court’s request and must obtain permission from pretrial services and federal prosecutors if he wishes to travel.
In a statement made following his arrest, Maxwell’s attorney, Navarro Gray said: ‘We pray that this is all a big misunderstanding.’
The case is ongoing.
