Tributes have been paid to two ‘lovely’ pensioners found dead in their home on Boxing Day as a teenager is arrested.
Mary and Denis Fell, both 73, were pronounced dead after police forced their way into their house in West Lothian, Scotland.
Cops had raced to the scene following reports of a sudden death in Raeburn Rigg, Livingston.
A man, 19, has been arrested in connection with the incident.
Shocked neighbours have described the ‘friendly’ couple’s deaths as ‘a tragedy, especially at this time of year’.
Mary suffered from mobility problems and Denis would care for her, it’s understood.
‘Everyone’ in the area knew the parents-of-two, who had lived on the same street for more than 16 years, one neighbour told the Daily Record.
Another person who lived nearby added: ‘They were a lovely older couple who really kept themselves to themselves over the last couple of years during the pandemic.
‘I’d seen him pushing her in a wheelchair a few times and they have a disabled parking spot right outside their house to make it easier for Mary to get out and about.’
A third said: ‘Mary and Denis have lived here for as long as I can remember. He is always such a friendly man who’ll chat to you and he looks after his wife.
‘They were really good neighbours and everyone in the street is just so shocked that they’ve died.’
There was a heavy police presence near the house with a forensic tent outside the door on Monday.
Door-to-door enquiries are being made and security footage gathered as a probe is launched.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: ‘A 19-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and are at an early stage.’
