The Grammys could be postponed for months amid rising Covid cases of the Omicron variant in LA, it has been claimed.
The annual ceremony is set to take place at the Crypto.com arena on January 31, 2022, with a star-studded guest list on hand to honor the biggest names in music.
Jon Batiste has racked up an impressive 11 nominations for the awards, with Justin Bieber, Doja Cat and H.E.R. landing eight nods each.
However, according to reports, organizers are hoping to reschedule the show to either March or April due to the pandemic.
Showbiz 411 reports that show bosses are looking at other possible venues for the ceremony, including the Hollywood Bowl.
They are reportedly also having trouble getting artists to commit to attending and performing on the night.
There has been no official announcement regarding the Grammys so far.
The reports come after it was confirmed that the Critics Choice Awards has been postponed, with a new date yet to be confirmed.
Bosses initially insisted that they would not move the ceremony, which was originally set to be held on January 9, but later made a U-turn on the decision.
In a statement shared last week, they explained that they ‘collectively’ arrived at the ‘prudent and responsible’ conclusion to push things back.
’After thoughtful consideration and candid conversations with our partners at The CW and TBS, we have collectively come to the conclusion that the prudent and responsible decision at this point is to postpone the 27th Annual Critics Choice Awards, originally slated for January 9, 2022,’ it read.
‘We are in constant communication with LA County Health Officials, and we are currently working diligently to find a new date during the upcoming awards season in which to host our annual gala in-person with everyone’s safety and health remaining our top priority.
‘We will be sharing additional details with our friends and colleagues throughout the entertainment industry as soon as we can.’
Other ceremonies and productions across the US have been forced to cancel due to further outbreaks, including many Broadway shows and the Bafta Los Angeles’ Tea Party.
