This Christmas, we decided to do an advent calendar with a difference, where instead of opening a treat, you get a random act of kindness to do each day.
After you’ve revealed your chocolate or beauty product counting down to Christmas, you can do a good deed and make someone’s day in the meantime.
You’ll spread Christmas cheer, get a warm and fuzzy feeling knowing you helped someone else, and ensure you remain on the nice list for another year – what’s not to love?
Behind today’s digital door, we’ve got some good old fashioned snail mail to write.
Day 3: Put pen to paper
Even though many people still send Christmas cards, they’re often written in batches and without much personalised information.
But if it’s the thought that counts, surely we should tell those we write to we’re thinking of them?
Take today to handwrite just one card or letter to a loved one, taking care to get down what that person means to you. It doesn’t need to be screeds of text, just something that comes from the heart.
As for who to write to, think of who you know who might need to hear your words most. That might be a grandparent you don’t get to see much of, a childhood friend you miss, or a colleague or teacher who shaped your development.
Once you’ve penned your heartfelt festive message, pop a stamp on the envelope and put it in the post – you’ve still got a few days left for it to arrive before Christmas.
There’s plenty of talk about presents and material gifts, but we bet your words will stay with them longer than any hamper or voucher could.
