Everyone once in a while, a dress comes along that sends shoppers crazy.

2021 was waiting for the big sartorial hit – and it has finally come, in the form of a super-festive frock.

The star of this year’s show is a £16 George at Asda dress that’s become a budget hit with fashion fans.

And it even has its own dedicated Instagram page.

Pink, satin, and shiny, the dress is festive season perfection, and would make the most stunning Christmas Day outfit opportunity.

Fitted around the bust and loosely skimming the rest of the body, it’s universally flattering and will suit a variety of shapes.

With puff sleeves and a square neckline, it is available in sizes six to 24 and also comes in a silvery grey for those who prefer darker colours.

While its style credentials aren’t up for debate, we can’t deny how similar it looks to indie label Selkie’s bestselling piece. The George version isn’t quite on the same level, but you’ll get change from a £20 note when you buy, compared to the Selkie option costing over £230.

Like viral garments that came before it (remember THAT Zara dress?) the dress has reached such legendary status that it even has its own dedicated Instagram page.

@thegeorgepinkdress is documenting the journey of the dress as it makes its way onto the profiles of more and more fashionistas and influencers.

The page bio reads: ‘Slaying so hard that I deserve my own account.’

Instagram users are all putting their own twist on the dress, with some opting for casual cool looks by pairing it with Dr Martens boots.

However, the dress truly comes into its own when it’s time to party.

The majority are wearing their highest platforms and sparkliest bags to take the bargain find to the next level.

With the hype reaching fever pitch, the trending dress is now sadly sold out online – although there are a few sizes left in the grey.

The coveted pink colourway is also still available in stores, so get down to your local supermarket if your heart is set on it.

If you are lucky enough to get your hands on one, we advise pairing it with diamante tights, black platform heels, and a matching black headband for a preppy but party appropriate look.
