Dozens rescued from floating chunk of ice after fishing trip goes horribly wrong

At the very least 27 folks have saved throughout a posh rescue operation from a floating chunk of ice.

The group, primarily made up of ice fishers, realised they had been in deep trouble once they heard the large iceberg break off in japanese Wisconsin, USA, on Saturday morning.

No accidents had been reported following the dramatic Lake Michigan incident within the bay of Inexperienced Bay, the place rescuers ferried folks off the ice because it continued transferring away from the shore.

Native media later recommended as many as 40 folks had been saved, although Brown County Sheriff’s workplace initially counted 27.

A few of these rescued say it appeared like ‘someone fired a gun’ because the ice broke off.

The Sheriff’s Workplace stated it was ‘joyful to report a very good ending to this extraordinarily harmful scenario’.

Lieutenant John Bain, added: ‘We bumped into points with ice breaking apart as we had been rescuing folks.

‘So it’s all the time a really harmful occasion with the chilly water and the climate.

‘And we’re actually grateful that each one the cooperation and teamwork led to a secure rescue.’
