Manchester United captain Harry Maguire will miss his side’s Premier League clash against Wolves after an injury meant he was left out of the squad for tonight’s clash at Old Trafford.
The England defender failed to meet up at the team hotel with the rest of his team-mates after sustaining an injury in United’s 3-1 win against Burnley last week.
The severity of the injury is yet to be determined but the Athletic claim Maguire is definitely out of tonight’s game, leaving United desperately short of options.
Victor Lindelof is currently isolating after testing positive for Covid-19, while Eric Bailly was not seen at the team hotel as he prepares to represent his country at AFCON.
It could mean Phil Jones is given his first start of the season, though it has not been ruled out that Bailly could yet feature.
Raphael Varane has been treated carefully since returning from a hamstring injury but he could start against an in-form Wolves side, who are looking to move to within three points of United with a win at the Theatre of Dreams.
Maguire has suffered a dramatic loss in form this term and has come under severe criticism from supporters for his performances.
He was paired with Bailly for the win against Burnley but the pair were both at fault as Aaron Lennon scored in the first half, with Bailly guilty of giving the ball away and Maguire criticised for backing off the former Spurs winger.
Bruno Fernandes is set to return to the squad after serving a one-match suspension following his fifth yellow card of the campaign.
