The boy, 12, was driving when he collided with a lorry in Limerick within the early hours of Friday.

A Garda spokeswoman mentioned: ‘Shortly earlier than 2am, Gardaí and Emergency Companies had been alerted following a collision between a automotive and a lorry on the N21 at Rineroe close to Adare.

‘The motive force of the automotive, a male juvenile, was fatally injured.

‘He was the only occupant of the automotive. His physique has since been eliminated to the morgue at College Hospital Limerick.

‘The coroner has been notified.

‘The motive force of the lorry, a person in his 40s, didn't require hospital therapy.’
