An adventurous cat received caught in a dry stone wall in County Durham.

So caught, that rescuers wanted to dismantle the wall as a way to free the poor cat.

An RSPCA rescuer was known as to a area in Tow Legislation, close to Bishop Auckland, on January 23.

A canine walker, whose pet noticed the black and white cat wedged in a small hole within the wall, alerted the animal charity.

Inspector Ruth Thomas-Coxon stated: ‘It was an uncommon call-out and the poor puss was very frightened and a bit of aggressive.

‘Initially it regarded as if he’d chosen to tuck himself contained in the hole however he didn’t attempt to run away once we received nearer so I used to be involved he could have been injured or sick.
