Roy Keane turns down offer to return to management with Sunderland

Roy Keane has turned down the chance to return to administration with Sunderland.

Keane, whose first managerial position was on the Stadium of Gentle in 2006, had been tipped to make a sensational return to Wearside following the sacking of Lee Johnson.

The previous Manchester United had not less than two interviews with Sunderland sporting director Kristjaan Speakman and in line with The Athletic, was supplied the place on Wednesday.  

However the report provides the previous Republic of Eire star is not going to be taking the job.

The 50-year-old was stated to have been a preferred candidate on the membership and among the many Sunderland fanbase with perception he could be the person to reignite their promotion push.

Sunderland will now flip their consideration to various candidates together with Grant McCann and Alex Neil.

Keane’s first job in administration was at Sunderland, taking on in August 2006 and main the membership to promotion to the Premier League in his first season in cost.

After leaving in 2008, he spent two years at Ipswich City, his final administration position.

The 50-year-old has had assistant supervisor spells at Aston Villa, Nottingham Forest and Republic of Eire in that point.
