After greater than 20 years on air, the pair’s remaining episode will air in April, marking the tip of an period after 21 years reviewing one of the best – and worst- motion pictures on the market.

In a message from the official Kermode and Mayo’s Movie Overview account on Twitter, Mayo introduced the genuinely unhappy information along with his trademark humour.

He wrote: ’21 years is a very long time to be clogging up the schedules.

‘We – and nobody else – have determined to step away… To withdraw… to unfold our wings… to exit, pursued by a bear.’

They confirmed the last-ever present will air on BBC Radio 5 Stay on April 1, just some brief weeks away.

Followers have, understandably, been left devastated by the information, with fellow movie critic Linda Marric responding to the announcement with the phrases: ‘I worry I could by no means cease crying.’

One other movie reviewer paid tribute to each critics for uplifting them all through their profession, writing in a genuinely heartfelt message: ‘Mark Kermode has been the particular person I’ve seemed as much as after I began writing about movie.

‘Simon Mayo has been somebody I’ve liked listening to through the years from after I was a baby.

‘The mix of your voices and personalities have impressed me for a few years. Unhappy to see you go.’

Kermode and Mayo’s Movie Overview first aired on BBC 5 in 2001, and was a direct hit, thanks partly to Kermode’s now-infamous rants on the movies he didn’t like, which incorporates just about the whole lot from Michael Bay.

The present continued to develop in reputation through the years, and in 2014 was named BBC Radio’s second-most downloaded podcast.

Whereas followers are devastated by the information, others are hoping towards hope that every one won't be because it appears, because of the duo’s well-known humour and the date the final episode is because of air.

April Fools? We will solely hope.
