Tina Hauser stated that her son, 28-year-old Tyler Jacob, was detained by the Russian navy at a checkpoint in northern Crimea whereas making an attempt to take a bus to Turkey. Jacob had been instructing English in Ukraine since November and lived in Kherson together with his spouse and her 11-year-old daughter, the distraught mom instructed KAAL-TV.

‘My worst nightmare is coming true, and I’m fearful that they will torture him and kill him, and I’m not ever going to see my son once more,’ Hauser stated.

The US Embassy in Moscow instructed Hauser that her son is the second US citizen to be taken by Russian troops through the nation’s invasion of Ukraine.
