Grammys 2022: Trevor Noah takes cheeky swipe at Will Smith over shocking Chris Rock slap

The Every day Present presenter did the honours of internet hosting the sixty fourth Grammy Awards in Las Vegas on Sunday and naturally addressed the recent subject in Hollywood. 

In fact, it was all about Smith, 53, who shocked the world when he stormed the Oscars stage and smacked Rock, 57, throughout the face for joking about his spouse Jada Pinkett Smith. 

Throughout his opening monologue on the Grammys, Trevor, 38, quipped: ‘It'll be such a lovely night. Don’t even consider it as an award present, this can be a live performance the place we’re giving out awards.

‘We’re going to be listening to some music, we’re going dancing, we’re going to be singing, we’re going to be conserving individuals’s names out of our mouths.’

It was a direct reference to the second Smith repeatedly shouted at Rock from his seat to ‘hold my spouse’s title out your f*****g mouth’. 

The incident occurred after Rock made a G.I. Jane joke about Smith’s spouse Jada’s hair, regardless of her talking brazenly prior to now about having alopecia.

Smith was allowed to remain on the ceremony regardless of his stunning actions and he went on to win greatest actor for his function in King Richard. Throughout his acceptance speech, he apologised to the Academy and his fellow actors within the viewers earlier than issuing an apology to Rock in an announcement the next day.

David Rubin, the president of the Academy, stated in an announcement despatched to PA information company: ‘We've got obtained and accepted Mr Will Smith’s speedy resignation from the Academy of Movement Image Arts and Sciences.’
