Hip-hop pioneer Kidd Creole has been discovered responsible of first-degree manslaughter for stabbing a homeless man in 2017.
The musician, actual title Nathaniel Glover, 62, was an unique member of Grandmaster Flash and the Livid 5 alongside his brother Melle Mel, AKA Melvin Glover. (He isn't related to Child Creole and the Coconuts, the band led by August Darnell.)
On 1 August 2017, he had a run-in with a 55-year-old homeless man named John Jolly, whom he believed was trying to solicit him for intercourse. Glover stabbed Jolly, who later died in hospital.
When he was arrested the day after the assault on a cost of second-degree homicide, Glover admitted to the assault throughout a videotaped police interview, though he was unaware on the time of Jolly’s dying.
“To inform the reality, I assumed he was homosexual and since I assumed he was homosexual, and he was saying that to me, ‘what’s up,’ I used to be considering that he was considering I used to be homosexual,” Glover advised police. “So I used to be a bit of irritated by that.
“He approached me. I acquired a bit of nervous.
