
Bestselling writer Jack Higgins, who was recognized for his novels together with The Eagle Has Landed, has died on the age of 92.
The novellist – whose actual title was Henry Patterson – wrote 85 books, promoting greater than 250million copies.
He died at dwelling in Jersey, surrounded by his household, his long-term publishers HarperCollins mentioned in an announcement.
HarperCollins chief govt Charlie Redmayne mentioned: ‘I’ve been a fan of Jack Higgins for longer than I can keep in mind. He was a basic thriller author: instinctive, robust, relentless.
‘The Eagle Has Landed and his different Liam Devlin books, his later Sean Dillion collection, and so many others have been and stay completely unputdownable. Being a part of his publishing for even a part of his profession has been a privilege – his passing marks the tip of an period.’
Jonathan Lloyd, Higgins’ literary agent and president of Curtis Brown, mentioned he was at Collins Publishers when it acquired the manuscript of The Eagle Has Landed, and everybody there knew it could be an instantaneous basic.

In 1976, it was tailored into a movie starring Sir Michael Caine and Donald Sutherland.
Higgins is survived by his 4 kids from his first marriage – Sarah, Ruth, Sean and Hannah – and by his spouse Denise.
He continued writing till 2017, when his last guide, The Midnight Bell, was printed. It grew to become a Sunday Instances bestseller.
