A Durham house was plunged into absolute chaos after a ‘big rat’ invaded.

Tori Wedgewood, who had been anticipating her first child on June 2, had been at house with canine Molly when she heard an odd noise.

She known as her parents-in-law, Gavin and Clare, over to assist examine.

Gavin swiftly dismantled the house’s £3,000 couch after Molly began sniffing beneath it.

The Jack Russell Chihuahua caught her head into a spot, just for a rat to leap out and over her complete physique.

The terrified couple ‘ripped’ open their couch with knives, destroying it within the course of, to make sure there have been no extra rats hiding inside.

‘The canine was chasing the rat round the lounge, she caught it and began to chew it within the nook and Gavin was shouting for a pan to kill it with. It was hilarious on the time however my coronary heart was in my mouth.

‘Just a few hours after this all occurred, after all of the commotion, operating throughout the ground and screaming, when it’d calmed and we knew there was no extra rats after checking the sofas and ripping extra to test, I had been getting period-like pains and felt a bit uneasy.

‘Then later, after I went to the bathroom, I seen my waters had barely broke and there have been spots of blood. A visit to the hospital confirmed that I used to be in labour.

‘Now we have the rat to thank for Jude’s early arrival.’

Molly, who's normally ‘frightened of her personal shadow’ has been praised by all the household for her valiant efforts.

Carl, a window cleaner, stated Child Jude’s early arrival has been ‘loopy’ to get used to.

He stated: ‘Tori was completely advantageous beforehand, no pains or something then she stated it felt like interval pains. She’d sprinted throughout the room screaming. Her waters had gone at 10.30pm.

‘It’s loopy to see Jude right here, his face is there and he needs to be within her nonetheless. It’s an excellent job he got here, he appears nice.

‘The beginning was nice, she managed very well.’
