A clean-up operation is now in place after the collision

A herd of cows have died after they wandered onto railway tracks and had been struck by a prepare.

The cattle had been hit by a Nice Western Railway (GWR) service close to Yetminster yesterday.

It has prompted chaos for passengers in Somerset and Dorset, with all providers passing between Yeovil Pen Mill and Weymouth cancelled till the tip of the day.

A clean-up operation is now eradicating the stays from the road, whereas engineers search for injury.

Anybody who has already purchased tickets can use them on South Western Railway providers between Weymouth and Southampton Central.

A GWR spokesperson mentioned: ‘Following a prepare hitting a number of cows close to Yetminster yesterday, a clean-up operation is in place.

‘Till that is full, and Nice Western Railway can guarantee the road just isn't broken, trains can be amended.

‘We anticipate disruption will proceed till the tip of the day.’
