Man accused of murdering wife and kids found dead in prison days before trial

Sameer Syed, 38, had been accused of the homicide of his spouse Seema Banu, his 11-year-old daughter Asfira Riza and six-year-old son Faizan Syed in south Dublin in October 2020.

In a press release, the Irish Jail Service confirmed ‘the loss of life of a prisoner within the Midlands Jail’.

It added: ‘All deaths in custody are investigated by the Irish Jail Service, the Inspector of Prisons and An Garda Siochana. The reason for loss of life is decided by the coroner workplace.’
