Robbie Williams digs into his darker days for inspiration on new album XXV: ‘My career hasn’t been as good since I’ve been happy’

Robbie Williams says he's trying again at his darker days to relight the fireplace below his music profession.

In an interview with Responsible Pleasures, the Let Me Entertain You singer mentioned the inspiration behind his new tune Misplaced, from upcoming album XXV, in celebration of his 25 years as a solo artist.

‘I’d go on these huge benders, high-octane and fulfilling, after which they had been hell. I very often used to get on a prepare at Euston and get picked up by mum at Stoke station.

‘There’s one specific time, I acquired off simply with one shoe. I don’t the place I misplaced the opposite shoe. I’d been up for just a few days, then my mum places me to mattress and feeds me,’ he recalled.

‘It’s that desolate place of, “Oh my god, every thing is totally uncontrolled.” And disappointment and despair. However I used to be saying, my profession hasn’t been nearly as good since I acquired glad, so I’ve needed to revisit a little bit of disappointment and hopefully one thing will occur.’

Former Take That star Rob then make clear his biopic Higher Man, directed by The Best Showman’s Michael Gracey and starring newcomer Jonno Davies as his youthful self.

‘Jonno is simply rocking it, completely rocking it. Earlier than he acquired there, they confirmed me some footage of him doing rehearsals, and it was like, “Wow, that’s it.”

‘I haven’t truly seen him do any of the deep, darkish stuff. I believe that is an over-18s film, blood and guts and medicines and intercourse and drink and rock’n’roll, shedding your self and discovering your self,’ he teased.

The 48-year-old may also star within the flick – ‘The bit I do within the film is coming-of-middle age’ – and addressed reviews he'll seem as a, er, CGI monkey.

‘I don’t know whether it is but,’ he stated, including: ‘For f***’s sake, how lengthy is it till I can say what it's… apparently I’m not a monkey!’

In the meantime, on the weekend, the Robster carried out an Oasis cowl at his homecoming gig at Vale Park in Stoke-on-Trent – however he dominated out a future collaboration with both of the Gallagher brothers following their well-known feud within the 90s.

‘Would I like that? Sure. Would they like that? They detest the thought, so there it's,’ he smiled.
