Archie Battersbee is not going to get well and persevering with his therapy will solely ‘delay the inevitable’, the Excessive Court docket has heard.

The 12-year-old boy is on the centre of a dispute between medical doctors and his household after he suffered a ‘devastating’ mind damage three months in the past.

His mother and father, Hollie Dance and Paul Battersbee, say their son’s coronary heart remains to be beating and need his life assist therapy to proceed.

Representing hospital bosses, Martin Westgate QC informed Mr Justice Hayden that Archie is ‘unresponsive’ and has ‘no prospect’ of recovering.

However a barrister for Archie’s household stated it's hoped their son will ‘make some kind of restoration’.

He added: ‘All that therapy can do is delay the inevitable outcome.’

Mr Smart stated Archie’s mother and father recognise the very critical situation their son is in and that he has a ‘very poor prognosis’.

However he stated they suppose that, ‘within the interim’, Archie has a ‘life value residing’ and, ‘within the present circumstances’, a ‘lifetime of dignity’.

Archie’s mom has informed how she discovered him unconscious with a ligature over his head on April 7 and thinks he may need been collaborating in a web based problem.

He has not regained consciousness.
