Moment Spirit Airlines flight catches fire during landing with passengers ‘freaking out’

Flames and smoke spewed from beneath a Spirit Airways aircraft after it landed, terrifying passengers on board.

A video recorded by a passenger on one other aircraft confirmed Spirit Airways flight 383 sitting on the tarmac at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta Worldwide Airport on Sunday morning with flashes of flames and thick grey smoke billowing out.

Spirit Airways stated that a brake overheated whereas touchdown round 9.25am, which triggered a small fireplace.

‘Spirit Flight 383 from Tampa to Atlanta landed safely in Atlanta Worldwide Airport and upon touchdown one of many brakes overheated,’ stated an airline spokesperson, based on NBC Information.

‘The plane was towed to the gate the place Company safely deplaned with none accidents. Thanks to the Atlanta first responders for instantly assembly the plane. The aircraft will likely be quickly faraway from service for upkeep.’

First responders rapidly put the blaze out and towed the plane to gate D2, based on FOX 5.

All passengers acquired off the aircraft safely and nobody was injured, airport officers stated.

A passenger on the flight, Scottie Nelms, stated that the takeoff and the journey went easily, and that it was not till the touchdown that issues went awry.

‘As soon as we landed, it made a bizarre noise from the left facet of the aircraft. No one knew what it was till we stopped fully in the course of the touchdown strip,’ Nelms informed FOX 5. ‘We noticed a flame coming from the engine and other people and myself began freaking out.’

One other video recorded from contained in the plane reveals passengers each standing and sitting, questioning what's going on. Flight attendants will be heard saying that passengers needn't evacuate and will stay seated.

It was not the primary time that a Spirit Airways flight has caught aflame.

In October, one of many airline’s planes that was set to depart from Atlantic Metropolis Worldwide Airport in New Jersey skilled a fireplace when a ‘massive fowl’ flew by way of the engine. The pilots aborted the takeoff.
