One to watch: Ahadadream

Ahad Elley had a dream and, judging by his thrilling membership music, that dream concerned: catherine wheels of polyrhythmic, brash beats, big horns and neon-bright percussion primed for blaring out of a speaker at Notting Hill carnival. The British-Pakistani producer is massive on drums, whether or not tabla-tapping or plucky dembow rhythms, and is a part of a brand new vanguard of social gathering starters who're making a pan-global underground sound with a sure London vitality. This could at anybody time draw on types like Angolan kuduro, Jamaican dancehall, South African gqom, and, for Elley, who usually references his south Asian roots, bhangra.

Elley has been quietly busy on the coalface of UK golf equipment for just a few years now, along with his London night time No ID; as a part of the staff at Dialled In, the massively inspiring pageant that champions the south Asian underground; and having beforehand labored at DJ streaming phenomenon Boiler Room. Oh, and there’s the wonderful label, Extra Time, he runs alongside his confederate in dancefloor destruction, Sam Interface. However his newest EP, Homecoming, seems like a step up. Launched in tandem along with his first journey to Pakistan in 10 years, it splices the sounds of Elley’s heritage with every thing from grime to South African amapiano. Look out for lead single Piano Skank at a pageant close to you, a deconstructed 90s acid tune with the loopy-bloopy carefreeness of a Bacardi Breezer spilling over your loafers. Actually, the stuff of ravey desires.

Homecoming EP is out now on Extra Time Information. Ahadadream is on tour till 17 September
