Women caught ‘smuggling lizards, turtles, snakes, porcupines, and armadillos onto plane’

Two girls have been caught attempting to board a flight with lots of of stay animals of their suitcases together with 50 chameleons and 35 turtles.

Nithya Raja, 38, and Zakia Sulthana, 24, have been detained when an X-ray screening of their baggage revealed greater than 100 creatures stuffed inside their luggage.`

If the animals had been offered on, they might have been value an estimated 200,000 THB (roughly £4,700), authorities stated.

The suspected wildlife smugglers, each from India, have been reportedly on their method to Chennai.

They have been flying from Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Worldwide Airport on June 27 after they have been arrested.

Officers rescued 50 chameleons, 35 turtles, 20 snakes, two porcupines, and two armadillos packed inside a pair of baggage.

Two iguanas have been discovered useless, whereas the opposite reptiles confirmed signs of dehydration, authorities stated.

The animals at the moment are receiving therapy and will probably be transferred to wildlife centres or breeding services.

In the meantime, the ladies have been charged with violating the Animal Illness Act of 2015, the Customs Act of 2017, and the Wildlife Conservation and Safety Act of 2019.

They have been remanded in police custody whereas awaiting official prosecution.
