Protesters shout ‘Tory scum’ and accused of ‘spitting at pensioners’ at hustings

Members of the Conservative social gathering have had eggs thrown at them and had been greeted with chants of ‘Tory scum’ forward of the most recent management hustings.

Conservative and SNP politicians have condemned the scenes final evening, with one naming protesters ‘morons’.

Conservative MP Andrew Bowie, who later launched Mr Sunak onstage, tweeted: ‘Eggs being thrown, spitting  at pensioners. The nice previous “tory scum” banner out…

‘Good to see @NicolaSturgeon ‘s civic and joyous nationalism in motion in Perth tonight.’

David Linden, who represents Glasgow East, responded: “These morons don’t converse for me or my social gathering. We condemn their behaviour completely and with out equivocation.

‘If anybody of them is discovered to be an SNP member, then they need to be chucked out instantly. It’s so simple as that.’

Scottish Tory MSP Stephen Kerr additionally hit out on the protests, tweeting: ‘I’m not what you name thin-skinned, however the Nationalist protest at our Perth hustings right this moment has been notably foul.

‘Alongside the sadly regular “tory scum”, screaming and intimidating older members, spitting, anger, bile- at members who simply wish to hear from the candidates.’

A spokesperson for Police Scotland stated: ‘An applicable policing plan was in place to keep up public security and minimise disruption

‘Police Scotland is a rights-based organisation that places our values of integrity, equity, respect and a dedication to upholding human rights on the coronary heart of the whole lot we do.

‘Now we have an obligation underneath the European Conference on Human Rights to guard the rights of people that want to peacefully protest or counter protest balanced in opposition to the rights of the broader neighborhood.’
