Rare jewel-coloured sea slug found in UK waters for the first time

A uncommon multi-coloured sea slug has been noticed in UK waters for the primary time.

The species referred to as Babakina anadoni, which is simply 2cm lengthy, was discovered by a diver off the coast of the Scilly Isles earlier this month.

Allen Murray, who's a volunteer ‘seasearcher’ for the Cornwall Wildlife Belief made the discover whereas diving close to Melledgan, an uninhabited rock island within the archipelago.

Murray was collaborating within the belief’s Nationwide Marine Week, and his photograph of the ocean slug is the primary confirmed file of the species within the UK, in accordance with the Cornwall Wildlife Belief

It has been sighted solely a handful of instances elsewhere, primarily alongside the west coast of Spain and additional south within the Atlantic, the belief stated.

The slug is a member of the aeolid nudibranch household, that are characterised by their vibrant colors and weird shapes.
