A nightclub in Essex has launched an investigation after two pals claimed they have been refused entry for ‘being Welsh’.
Jonathan Lloyd, from Wrexham, and his pal mentioned they have been stopped by safety on the MooMoo Clubrooms in Southend-on-Sea on September 17.
The pair had been on the Southend United vs Wrexham Nationwide League soccer match and headed to the membership on the advice of rival followers.
They mentioned they have been neatly dressed and weren't sporting soccer colors.
The boys added that as they queued to get in and chatted with different clubbers, a doorman intervened.
Mr Lloyd mentioned. ‘The doorman, who heard our dialog requested “are you Welsh?” to which we replied sure.
‘The doorman then instructed us we weren’t allowed in.’
Mr Lloyd added he didn't imagine the actual fact he and his pal have been Wrexham AFC supporters had performed a component within the door employees’s resolution.
He added: ‘We have been standing within the queue, if he hadn’t heard our accents we'd have gotten in, so he mainly didn’t allow us to in as a result of we’re Welsh. We went again in a while and tried once more and the identical doorman mentioned ‘are you the Welsh boyos’.
‘He didn’t point out soccer or the actual fact Wrexham have been taking part in. There was solely two of us and we’d had no hassle anyplace else.’
A spokesperson for MooMoos mentioned it was investigating the incident.
They mentioned: ‘We don't condone discrimination of any type in our venue.
‘We now have raised this alleged incident with our third-party contracted door workforce and an investigation is underway.’
