The flight took off from Keflavik on August 20 and returned the subsequent day, touchdown in Keflavik on the August 22.

The flying household included Captain Jónsson’s spouse Sigga Nanna, 50, daughters Sigga Marta, 20, Ingibjorg Ingvarsdottir, 23, and Nina Bjorg, 29, in addition to mother-in-law Ingibjorg Marteinsdottir, 69, and boyfriends Thorir, 20, and Petur, 25.

‘My spouse Sigga Nanna and I first met in 1997 once we had been on responsibility on an Icelandair flight. It was love at first flight.

‘Since our two youthful daughters, Ingibjorg and Sigga Marta, began working for the summer season as flight attendants, Sigga Nanna and our oldest daughter Nina thought it could be Concept to bid for a flight collectively from Keflavik Iceland to Washington DC.

His spouse comes from a ‘huge aviation household’, as her grandfather Snorri and her father Jon Karl are retired captains for Icelandair.

Her brother Snorri is presently a captain and his spouse Erla is a flight attendant. Sigga’s sister Thorhildur can also be a flight attendant.

The business, clearly a mutual love for the household, has seen generations of her household be part of.

Ingvar provides: ‘All of them labored for, or are working for the airline Icelandair, which was based within the 12 months 1937.

‘Nina our oldest is working full time as a flight attendant, Ingibjorg is getting her masters diploma in regulation and Sigga Marta is getting her Bachelor’s diploma in instructional research.’
