Claudio Campos, 28, attacked Avtar Singh, 62, in broad daylight on June 23.
He adopted Mr Singh shortly after passing him and his Polish girlfriend by a pedestrian crossing.
Campos instructed police that his girlfriend had stated a person had touched her backside after which pointed to Mr Singh.
