Retirement home evacuated after fire breaks out with major 999 response

A retirement residence in central Middlesbrough has been evacuated after fireplace broke out, with police, fireplace service and paramedics responding.

Residents have been being handled on scene with some carrying masks with respiratory equipment and others being put into ambulances wrapped in foil sheets.

Linthorpe Street space of Middlesbrough has been closed off by police while they cope with the incident at St George’s Home.

Cleveland Fireplace Brigade mentioned: ‘Seven home equipment and crews carrying respiratory equipment efficiently handled an incident in Linthorpe Street, Middlesbrough.

‘All residents at the moment are protected and crews will stay on the scene for some time.’

St George’s Home is made up of twenty-two flats described as retirement housing providing sheltered lodging, the place residents principally reside independently however can even entry assist.
