Boxing Day stabbing suspects remanded in custody over footballer’s murder

Two suspects charged with the homicide of footballer Cody Fisher have been remanded in custody at their first courtroom listening to.

The 23-year-old was stabbed to demise on the dancefloor of Crane, a nightclub in Digbeth, Birmingham, on Boxing Day.

Kami Carpenter, 21, and Remy Gordon, 22, had been charged together with his homicide, police confirmed on Saturday.

Each pleaded not responsible to a linked cost of affray, alleged to have taken place on December 26 as properly.

Following a four-minute listening to earlier than two magistrates, they had been ordered to reappear earlier than a decide at Birmingham Crown Courtroom on Wednesday.

Mr Fisher, who performed for Stratford City FC, was attacked at about 11.45pm whereas on an evening out with associates.

Officers recovered a knife from the scene, and a autopsy examination confirmed he died of the stab wound.

His girlfriend Jess Chatwin paid tribute to him with a message on Twitter the day after he died.

She wrote: ‘You didn’t deserve any of this. I’m so sorry this has occurred to you my child please come house. I really like you eternally Cody Fisher.’

A press release revealed by the police and attributed to Mr Fisher’s household mentioned: ‘They've damaged our hearts; I've misplaced my greatest pal.

‘My household and I are asking for privateness and respectfulness at this heart-breaking time.’
