An 11-year-old schoolboy who died after being hit by a bus has been named as Lucas Ashton.

Lucas was using his bike when he was knocked down on Vernon Road, Bolton, at round 1.40pm on Friday, Better Manchester Police mentioned.

The teen was pronounced lifeless on the scene regardless of emergency companies’ greatest efforts to avoid wasting him.

Police mentioned the bus driver was ‘aiding officers with enquiries’ following the incident and no arrests had been made.

Leoni Johnson mentioned she witnessed the aftermath of the horrific crash and described listening to the ‘terrible’ screams of who she believed to be the boy’s mum.

She mentioned she ‘couldn’t watch’ because the street turned flooded with emergency companies.

Ms Johnson mentioned: ‘I went to the store and by the point I got here again the street was flooded with police.

‘I’m a mum too so I couldn’t watch, I needed to come inside. We came upon on the information that he had handed away. It’s each mum or dad’s worst nightmare.’ 

She mentioned kids within the space repeatedly journey their bikes alongside Vernon Road and different roads within the space. 

Ms Johnson mentioned: ‘There are such a lot of little children that play up right here, mine included. I can’t think about what that household goes via.’ 

One other resident mentioned the incident had shocked the area people. 

‘It’s completely devastating. It was actually eerie and unhappy yesterday. 

‘Even earlier than we knew he had handed away, you simply knew. There was a nasty feeling. It’s fairly a close-knit neighborhood.
