The Sunshine Coast-based LifeFlight crew, which are currently flying in the Land Rover LifeFlight Special Mission helicopter, were also tasked, however were not required to transport any patients.

Witness Emma Burch informed the Gold Coast Bulletin the accident appeared to happen when one chopper was taking off and because the different landed.

The Australian Transport Security Bureau confirmed it has commenced an investigation into the incident.
