After weeks of bad headlines, Justin Trudeau said he would appoint an “eminent Canadian” to get to the bottom of the allegations that China attempted to sway the last two federal elections in his favour.
The announcement sent some of us racing to our audio dictionaries to find out how to pronounce the role. Then we flipped to the regular dictionary to find out what the actual job is.
Without giving too much away — this is a quiz, after all — we can say that this so far unnamed Canadian will have to be someone who likes to prepare reports. Lots of reports. Someone like a bureaucrat. That shouldn’t be difficult to find in Ottawa.
