March Madness MVP Odds: NCAA Most Outstanding Player Odds

Surviving as the March Madness champion is a team effort, but the star crowned with the Final Four’s Most Outstanding Player award will have played a special part.

With the first weekend in the books, March Madness brackets we’re definitely busted and March Madness odds to win MVP saw a little bit of a shakeup from the opening lines, as two No. 1s and two No. 2 seeds failed to reach the Sweet 16.

The MOP odds have finally returned after Round 2 wrapped up Sunday night — check out the odds board and the new favorites in our full breakdown below.

March Madness 2023 MVP favorites

Brandon Miller (+410)

There was no shortage of drama surrounding Alabama this season and more specifically Brandon Miller, but alas here we are. Alabama has looked like the No. 1-overall seed in the tournament, winning each of its first two tourney games by 21+ points.

A projected Top 3 pick in the upcoming draft, the 6-foot-9 freshman had an auspicious start to March Madness, going scoreless in 19 minutes against No. 16 Texas A&M-CC, but his second-round effort against Maryland — 19 points and seven rebounds — is more in line with what we’ve seen this year from a guy who led his team in points and rebounds this season.

Marcus Sasser (+850)

The star of the Houston Cougars backcourt, Sasser opened as the betting favorite, but then he re-aggravated his groin injury in Thursday win, putting doubt into his (and the team’s) status in the futures market.

However, Sasser returned to play in Saturday’s win over Auburn, scoring 22 points in 31 minutes — while “playing at 60%.”

Jaime Jaquez Jr. (+1,100)

With the UCLA Bruins eyeing another deep tournament run, it’s no shock to see senior guard Jaime Jaquez Jr. on the board.

He scored 17 points in a blowout win in Round 1 but his services were certainly needed in Round 2 and he answered the call with a 24-8-4 stat line on 57.9% shooting and just one turnover in the 68-73 win.

Latest March Madness MVP odds analysis

How is the March Madness MVP decided?

The honor of March Madness MVP is awarded by the Associated Press after the NCAA Tournament. Most often, the Most Outstanding Player comes from the NCAA championship team. There have been a dozen players named MVP that weren’t on championship teams.

History of the March Madness MVP

Not all Final Four MVPs go on to the pros, but they live on forever in NCAA Tournament glory — especially if you bet on their odds to win March Madness MVP. Tournament MVPs almost always come from the winning team. The last player to be named MVP whose team did not win was Hakeem Olajuwon for the Houston Cougars in 1983.

Most betting sites have offered odds on the tournament MVP for a few years now, but sportsbooks based in Nevada have only been allowed to book this March Madness prop since 2016.
