The latest: No. 4 UConn is the highest remaining seed, which should tell you just how much madness has transpired this month. Connecticut will face No. 5 Miami with a shot at landing in the March Madness final, which takes place April 3.

Best odds to win March Madness

The favourite: UConn Huskies (-139)

Four tourney games, four comfortable wins.

In a tournament that built on — and named after — madness, UConn has had an almost numbingly relaxed run to the Final Four. Each of its victories came by 15-plus points, leading to a staggering plus-90 point differential for the Huskies.

UConn is a KenPom darling, holding the analytics site’s top rating. The Huskies are third in adjusted offensive efficiency, second in offensive rebounding rate (38.5%) and eighth in effective field goal percentage allowed (44.8%).

With none of the No. 1-3 seeds left in the tournament, you might assume the odds would reflect a wide-open field at this stage. But UConn’s dominance — most recently displayed in a 28-point win over Gonzaga — has the squad towering above the rest.

Other March Madness choices

Best value: Florida Atlantic Owls (+650)

Of the non-UConn teams, the best value seems to come with the team holding the longest remaining odds.

FAU is the literal definition of small but mighty, as the sixth-shortest team in the 68-team field. The Owls didn’t let that stop them, though, and now they own the longest win streak in the country (11 games).

None of FAU’s starters are seniors, but they still have plenty of experience together. This team’s minutes continuity (66.1%) ranks 26th in the NCAA. You could do worse than back a team at 6-to-1 that’s on a hot streak and knows how to play together.

Team to watch: Miami Hurricanes (+450)

It’s possible that Miami has already played the toughest game of its tournament. Take your pick between No. 1 Houston and No. 2 Texas.

The Hurricanes stormed through both matchups by filling the net, and now they’ve scored 85-plus points in three straight games. In their past two matchups, the Canes have had five players finish with double-digit points.

It’ll be difficult to blow the doors off UConn, but that’s what we thought about Houston and Texas, too. If the Canes can sneak past the Huskies, they’ll definitely be favoured in the national championship.
