Best NBA Clutch Player of the Year odds

The favourite: De'Aaron Fox (-305)

Fox has raced up the board as his clutch stats have been too strong to deny.

The lightning-quick guard leads the league in total clutch points (165) as well as points (60.0) and field-goal attempts (41.5) per 100 possessions in clutch situations.

If he can continue to thrive in those spots and make a highlight reel buzzer-beater or two, Fox could run away with this award.

To his credit, he already has multiple memorable late-game winners:

Other NBA Clutch Player of the Year choices

Best value: DeMar DeRozan (+1,400)

DeRozan is known as one of the NBA’s top high-leverage shotmakers, and he likely would’ve won this award last season if it existed.

The state of the reeling Chicago Bulls doesn’t help DeRozan’s chances, but his name is all over the clutch leaderboards.

His 127 clutch points rank third in the league, his 48.7 points per 100 possessions rank fifth and his 400 fourth-quarter points are also fourth. Helping DeRozan’s case is that he isn’t just prolific in the clutch — he’s also efficient.

With the game on the line, he has hit a solid 45.9% of his shots and drained 90.6% of his free throws.

Player to watch: Brunson (+6,000)

There’s plenty of uncertainty surrounding this award, which opens the door for more unconventional candidates.

Brunson is a good example as a player who’s taken a back seat to Luka Doncic in clutch situations for most of his career.

Now that he’s moved on to the New York Knicks, Brunson has become a player his team leans on when things get tight. These odds seem pretty generous for a guy who ranks second in the NBA in clutch points (131) while shooting 50.6% in those situations.

Brunson’s scoring has taken off since the calendar flipped to 2023, and if his production remains elite he could quickly climb into this race.
