King Charles’ private fortune is worth 1.8bn pounds ($3 billion) according to an analysis by The Guardian.
The paper’s “comprehensive audit” encompassed everything from the monarch’s “country piles and diamond-encrusted jewels, to paintings by Monet and Dalí, Rolls-Royces, racehorses and rare stamps.”
“While we do not comment on private finances, your figures are a highly creative mix of speculation, assumption and inaccuracy,” a spokesperson for the king told the paper.
The research was carried out by a team of reporters, who worked with 12 experts to value the royal’s assets.
The biggest piece to the king’s portfolio is the Duchy of Lancaster, a collection of properties that earns the monarch $33 million a year. The Duchy includes rural and urban land holdings, as well as prime commercial properties, such as office and retail spaces in London.
Two other private properties inherited by the King, on the other hand, were valued at $553 million. These were Balmoral, a rural estate in the Scottish Highlands, with a sprawling 53,684 acres of land, and the Sandringham estate in Norfolk, which has “hundreds” of rental properties, according to the report.
The king’s fleet of cars included 23 Rolls Royces, Bentleys and Jaguars but some were loans or owned by the state, the article says. Of the ones the paper attributed king, the value is said to be 6.3m pounds, or $10.57 million.

Not included were royal estates such as Buckingham Palace and Kensington Palace, which are held for the crown.
The late Queen also bequeathed close to 70 thoroughbred racehorses, which are located at Sandringham, estimated to be worth about $45 million.
Charles’ private stamp collection is considered among the best in the world and worth at least $167 million, according to the experts. The collection includes hundreds of thousands of stamps, some inherited from his great grandfather, George V.
Artworks in the royal collection number 400, Guardian states, with a total value worth at least $40 million. They include works by Monet, Dali and Chagall.
A conservative estimate valued 54 jewels in the royal’s private collection at $893 million. Investments, which were harder to track down, are believed to total around $238 million.
